So I think this is the 2nd or 3rd exhibition the featured in HIPFEST last year to get a showing in a London gallery this year. Where Hull leads London follows it seems.

Celebrating music Photography in Hull

https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=hip%20gallery

We are celebrating music photography in Hull this summer in HIP Gallery and we are interested to see your photos from gigs and festy’s in Hull over the years.

We’re especially interested to see photographs taken at Sesh Hull & on BBC Introducing Humberside (BBC Raw Talent) Sessions, Stages etc as it’s 15 years of both this year.

DM HIP Gallery if you want to be involved. We obviously can’t show everyone’s images so this will be a curated exhibition.

We do not have any funding for this, we just want to do it. So help out if you can. I know we can do this together and make it an excellent event.

The Creative and Cultural Company volunteers team will work with me on the logistics to make it into a public exhibition and I will start the fun bit of looking at photo’s and making a short list. I’ll keep you posted

The photographs have been chosen with HIP Gallery guest curator Dilzar Ali who says “This exhibition is filled with joy, colour and emotion, showing the true beauty of life in Kurdistan.”

28 year old director of photography, Ranj Abdulla was born in Sulemanya city Kurdistan (northern Iraq). Ranj explained “As a photographer, these photographs bring together all the pictures I have seen, the books I have read, the music I have heard, the people I have loved. You don’t make a photograph just with a camera.”

Photographer Nasih Ali Xayat aged 33 is from Halabja City Kurdistan (northern Iraq). He comes from a poor family background and didn’t begin his photography until 2002. Nasih explained, “You don’t need to speak the same language to appreciate the photographs, everyone can understand them. Taking photographs has helped me to feel alive again.”
